Child's Initial Apron

OK...So I told you I would show you the apron I was working on and here it is ~ The apron is a Kelly Green in a child or youth size. My daughter choose the fun camo material in the "L". I added a small hot pink bow that is attached with a safety pin so it can be removed before washing.

I really love the way this turned out! I am thinking of making a Mother/Daughter combo set so Mom and Little One can have fun in the kitchen together! Other colors are available, too, so maybe I will make a red or royal blue set.

Like I said in the last blog, I am totally loving the applique thing. The one above I found at Five Star Fonts. Anita is the one who creates the embroidery designs and runs the website. A pleasure to work and has wonderful ideas.

In The Hoop Projects

I am LOVING these things called "In The Hoop" projects! They are embroidery projects where the entire project can be made in the hoop. For example, I recently made a tennis bag tag for my Mom. It turned out SO cute! And she absolutely loved it...which of course is the main thing! :) Another in the hoop project I've enjoyed making is keychains. This one is for my oldest daughter. She loves the navy and lime color combo. Turned out pretty cute, huh? On these keychains, there is a little pocket so you can put a lipstick tube, chapstick, or even some cash if you just want to carry your keys. I am really enjoying mine ~

The other thing I have been making are appliqued items. I know that may seem funny seeing as applique has been around forever, but even though I have been embroidering for some time now, I was always scared of the whole applique thing. I have conquered my fears! Thanks goodness I already have the applique scissors...those things sure can get expensive!! I have aready accomplished bibs and burp cloths. Now it on to my next project ... a kids apron for my daughter. I will be sure to post a pic when I'm finished with it!

Monogrammed Christmas Plaid Placemat Purse

The colors in this purse are so beautiful I think. The red, greens, and white with a touch of yellow just say Christmas to me. I have always loved plaid, even when it didn't seem so popular. To me, it never goes out of style!
I figured out how to make these purses on one of my quests to figure something out. Once I get something in my head, it just doesn't seem to go away until I "really get it" or I just can't do it ~ Anyway, I already did embroidery but wanted to do something new but not alot of sewing. Love to sew but has to be something that definately is NOT clothing and does not have to be EXACT! So I came across these and people really seemed to like them. I began my search for placemats and kind of got addicted to finding really pretty ones or ones that I thought the general public would like once made into a bag. Then came the ribbon addiction....oh my goodness!!!! I still have to hold myself back from buying it now! I started with ribbon that would match the purses. Then it expanded into ribbon for hairbows and snap clips. I'm sure something else will catch my attention soon! Let you know when it does ~ Lollie

Baby Nylon Headbands with Bows

This is my new item that I have finally figured out to make! It's a baby headband that is made out of nylon. It is super soft and stretchy and stretches as your baby grows. This one is in black and orange for Halloween. Turned out pretty cute..I think! The headband is in black and main bow is black as well. Top bow is a sheer orange and center is black. All the ends are sealed so they don't fray. I always try to share with girls that wear bow or ribbon..."you can make it stop fraying by using a lighter on the ends". They usually look at me like...."really?!" It really does work though! Anyway, I just started working with organza or sheer ribbon and have decided I really like it. I think with the baby headbands, it makes the bow a little softer and sweeter. I did an all white one and, let me tell you, I think it is beautiful! Don't know what it is about all white, but it just looks simple and beautiful. I think about a baby taking a picture in a Christening gown. A baby sleeping in her heirloom gown with the all white, soft and silky headband on. She looks so precious! Then the water hits her forehead and the picture fades :) Baby is unhappy and just wants to go back to sleep!! I'm off for now but will keep you updated with anything new I come up with ~ Lollie

Monogrammed Nightlight

So, this is one of my favorites. A personalized monogramed nightlight. The nightlight is covered with a white fabric, in the this case, with an initial embroidered on it. I attached thin, grosgrain ribbon around the top that matches the initial. I have also made a pink and green nightlight that is just perfect for little girls! It is made with a pink and white gingham fabric and then the initial is stitched in lime green! Oh my, it is SO CUTE!! I wish I had had one of these growing up! Just couldn't sleep without the hall light on. Maybe this would have done the trick! It gives off just enough light to make you comfortable. Well, I'm off now....to create new items ~ Lollie

Holiday Woven Ribbon Headband

I am having so much fun making these ribbon headbands! I recently purchased some instructions from a fellow bow maker and after I finally got the hang of it, I couldn't stop!I even taught my 13 daughter how to make them and she helps me when I need to make a bunch! I really think this one would be great for the holiday's. The red and white stripes make me think of a candy cane. I do have other Christmas colors, too, so I guess I could list those as well. I'll try to get working on that tomorrow! Once I start these, I have a hard time stopping. All the color combination possibilities just start flowing ... brings out my creative side :) I do have lots of ribbon choices to choose from. You could get Christmas shopping early...I have lots of fun gifts on there! Have fun looking! Talk soon ~
